Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can help an individual improve their emotional wellbeing, resilience and the quality of their relationships, addressing symptoms including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, isolation and a sense of being lost.

My philosophy is rooted in my belief that infants develop their sense of who they are and how to interact with others in relationship with the important people in their lives. As they grow into adulthood this way of being governs, perhaps unconsciously, their behaviours and relationships. But, what may have worked in childhood may not work so well in adulthood. When this is the case, people come to therapy seeking change.

Through the relationship we build together in therapy, I support my clients’ autonomy and ability to be who they are. Leaving behind their archaic relational patterns, they can connect and engage more fully with those who are important in their lives today.

For some this process of change is straightforward, but for most of us it is challenging. There are no quick fixes or shortcuts. The result, however, can be wonderful and life enhancing. I offer the safety, containment, support and insight my clients need to explore their difficulties and engage in the process of change.

Each session is 50 minutes and I adhere to the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy’s ethical code of practice
