What have you got to lose? Just ask!

All we did was ask what else might be possible and the creative floodgates opened!

As you might know one of my clients has taken the plunge and is a major sponsor of an industry awards programme. This is no vanity project. For them it’s about far more than a good day out and some sexy branding. They want hard, commercial benefits and have a very clear idea of what these should be. We’re working together to build a promotional programme accordingly.

To make sure we get every possible penny of value from the sponsorship we took the time to meet with the organisers. We had two objectives.

  1. We wanted to build a relationship with them. People tend to do a little more for people they have a relationship with and we want them to always think of us first.
  2. The sponsorship package is a good one but a chat might mean there is even more opportunity.

Taking the initiative and putting in the time paid dividends. The organisers said no other sponsor had asked for a meeting or come forward with any ideas. We’ve now got some really good new opportunities on top of the basic package.
